About the Event
Master Shan Bai Qin (單柏欽老師) was born in 1936 in Huizhou (惠洲) ofGuangdong Province, China.He learned painting on his own as a child doing comic figures. In 1956, he was accepted into the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, the Chinese painting section. After graduation in 1960, he remained teaching
there for a few years. He specializes in painting portraits, mainly using traditional subjects, dancing and theatrical figures in his paintings. He also does scenery
paintings, as well as birds and flowers. He uses bold strokes with splash ink, and refreshing colours. He has numerous exhibitions in China and overseas as well as publishing in newspapers.
Since 1980, he has done solo exhibitions in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, United States of America, Thailand, and Canada. A large number of his paintings are collected by museums and art galleries in China and overseas. Currently, Mr. Shan is an executive of the Guangdong Chinese Artists Association, Vice president of the Guangzhou Artists Association, an executive of the Guangdong Provincial Publishing Industry Association Binding Art Work
Committee, vice president of the Guangzhou Chinese Artists Association, , vice chair of the Guangzhou Daily supplementary section, vice president of Guangdong Peizheng College, and visiting professor of Tienjin Academy of Fine Arts .
